Lake Garda is for sure the biggest but also known as the most beautiful of all Italian lakes. Easily accessible by car it extends between the Alps and the plain of the river Po. With the areas of Terentino in the north, Veneto towards south-east and Lombardy in the west it connects three of the most attractive travel destinations in Italy.
Although located in the northern part of Italy Lake Garda appears quite Mediterranean. Beneath a deep blue summer sky you find palm-, lemon-, and orange trees. This can be proved by the name of the well-known Riviera dei Limoni at the west coast or by the wine and olive oil production located in Cisano and Bardolino.
The vegetation in the whole lake area offers a wide range of types and species: from the Mediterranean to the Alpine variety, from the olives to the vineyards, from the mountainous fir coastline to the tops of Monte Baldo Mountain.
Art and culture enthusiasts will have their program complete: around Lake Garda you find an important number of churches, museums, monuments and historical mansions of the rich and the nobility. The most famous churches you can find in the south of Lake Garda, as for example the pilgrimage church “Madonna della Corona”, or “Madonna del Frassino” in Peschiera del Garda. From there opens up the wide venetian area with its lagoons, beaches and the faboulous towns of Verona and of course: Venice.
But also leasure and sports fans find what they are looking for: gastronomy and entertainment as well as huge leisure and water parks guarantee amusement and fun at Lake Garda. Talking about sports especially surfers and sailers love “their lake”, but at the same time you surely find traditional offers as tennis, football or basketball and trend sports as hiking, biking or climbing, for example at Monte Baldo.
